"How do you measure a year?" -Rent

365 days ago, I received the news that I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease lymphoma.
365 days ago, I led a VERY different life.
365 days ago, I witnessed one of the most selfless acts in the world.
365 days ago, I took one giant leap into grown-up land.
365 days ago, my life changed.

As I sit here writing, my last post in this blog, I would like to pour my heart out onto the paper one last time. I cannot. Going through treatment forced me to consider how much I should share with the world. Most people deserve a need to know basis. For their own good.

So, what can I tell you. I can tell you that I am doing well. I feel great, I have had two positive oncology appointments and am scheduled for another in August. My port is out. My hair is growing. I have a college degree. I am going to graduate school. I am alive!

I feel as though I will have many mini milestones now in my life. Dates I will never forget and moments that changed the way I see the world. Today is one of those days. Today was a major day of progress for me, a year ago and today. What happened within the walls of these 365 days was emotional, was hard, was painful, was draining, was uncomfortable, was a miracle.

So, how do I measure my last year...

in treatments, in phone calls, in port flushes, and a speeding ticket.
appointments, hair cuts, bad days and rebirth
five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minuets, how do you measure a year in life?
Love...

Thankfully Yours Always,
Ashlee
